Well, last night was a lot of fun. Baby Bookworm and Toad Mon attend the Chillin' Out in Motown event. It was held at an ice cream shop so all those in attendance ate ice cream, exchanged siggy stamps, solved personal travelers and just enjoyed the night. It was the first event for many of those there and overall I think it was a fun time had by all. Thanks goes out to SunFleur for organizing it so we could meet some Michigan boxers. And to everyone who came I hope you had a good time.
In other news we had a fun time getting a few boxes in MI yesterday as well. We headed out with three non-boxers in tow, the intent was to convince them that letterboxing is awesome. We decided to shoot for "Hear the Roar" first, had a somewhat easy time finding the box, stamped in, etc... Afterwards we went to take a picture in front of a sign at the location that says "Allen Park - Home of the Detroit Lions." While we were taking it, a security guard comes up and demands to know if we have written permission from the Lions to take a picture. Our response is "What? It's just a picture..." She then goes on to tell us how she won't write us a ticket this time, but if we go past the driveway and even think about pulling our camera out she'll ticket us.
Quite an interesting experience, we were just thankful she didn't come a few minutes earlier when we were stamping into the box...LOL
After that we headed to the "Joy of the River" box. No luck in finding this one, lovely hike although I think it may have turned the newbies against boxing, because the youngest member of the family with us sprained their ankle while walking through the trees to try and find this little tupperware box we had told them was there. Oh well, what can we do? At least she wasn't injured very badly and I do think they had a decent time. We did have time for one more box after the ankle incident, we did find that one, 2/3 isn't bad for a few hours.

I think your gathering will be super fine. You are so great at putting things together. I am very proud of you. :)
As an ex-"Motowner" I would like to apologize for your unfriendly encounter.
Fortunately I did not have the same experience. I parked there to log in and leave the HH you retrieved. I also took my picture in front of the sign and sent a copy to the carver of Magic Marvin.
BTW the carver of the Lions stamps has several lovely boxes in that same general area. We enjoyed some great Motown locations. "The Raven" was a super carving and "Rollin Down the Highway" tho demolished due to the recent construction when we were there, was well worth the trip anyway.
